Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority

Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority has witnessed consecutive huge development since its inception as a private company called Sharjah Electricity & Water Resources Co., then its ownership was transferred to Sharjah Government as (Sharjah Electricity & Water Department). With the tremendous economical, industrial and civilization development boom witnessed in the Emirate of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qassimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah issued his visionary decree on establishment of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) as financially and administratively independent entity, to distribute and generate electricity, water and (piped natural) gas to the nationals and residents of the Sharjah Emirate.

The Emirate of Sharjah enjoys a number of competitive advantages in various fields, including energy and water. The Vision and strategy of the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority is to provide electricity, water, and natural gas networks for urban and economic expansion over the next 15 years according to the best international standards; undoubtedly, the study of current and future economic conditions and relevant continuous assessment will contribute to the development of a road map to continue to increase competitiveness, attract more investments to the emirate of Sharjah, take the necessary steps to ensure the sustainable development as per the vision of the Emirate to provide incentives that encourage investors to initiate ambitious development projects and establish strong infrastructure to support the economy in line with global best practices.
